Welcome to
the Island of Sun
According to an old legend, God found a tiny seed at the bottom of his bag when he was almost finished creating the earth. He took out the little seed and flung it into the Baltic Sea – where it grew into the island of Bornholm.
The Gem of the Baltic, Isle of Nightingales and Sunshine Island. This little island has had many picturesque names over the years.
Surrounded by the foamy sea, it is located about one hour by boat from Sweden.
The island has fantastic rock formations along the north coast and just as magnificent sandy beaches along the south. The sand is so fine it was once used in hourglasses!
The method of transport varies from walking (keep one foot in the water as you walk round the island and you’ll cover 157 km!), cycling on fantastic side roads and paths winding their way across the island, riding public buses or driving in a car.
You’ll find places to stay wherever you go. Such as this bed-and-breakfast comparable to roadside inns in the rest of Denmark: a half-timbered farmhouse painted “Bornholm red” with black trim where time seems to stand still. Hotels are another alternative: some have modern, refreshing Danish furnishings, while others are steeped in centuries of tradition. Why not go camping in a small, wooden chalet or stay at one of the family and youth hostels, which usually have high standards and are not very far from the sea.
We’ve made it easy for you, our customer, to use our online system to book ferry tickets and accommodation for your Bornholm holiday.
Our website also makes it easy for you to book a cycle for hire or reserve tee-off times.
Welcome!
